The Nesin Mathematics Village was founded in 2007 with donations from the people and with the help of young volunteers. It has been expanding and improving ever since. We can say that it is now well-established, with around 4000 students per year staying at the Village at different times.

In time, we noticed that young people were hungry not only for mathematical knowledge but also for philosophical and artistic brain fodder. Indeed, students started organising reading groups, seminars and workshops on philosophy, literature and the like, sometimes on their own and sometimes with lecturers. There were 11 events of this type in 2013. 9 in 2014, 12 in 2015, and 9 in 2016. Thus we constructed the Philosophy Village, trusting in the motivation of the students and the success of the Mathematics Village.

Just like the Mathematics Village, the Philosophy Village is independent from any education system, exam system or set curriculum. Its aim is to teach young people how to think, how to question and how to learn.

The primary intended audience is high school and university students, but the Philosophy Village is open to everyone from primary school students to researchers.
