Functorial Methods in Representation Theory Summer Camp

07/08/2017-19/08/2017

  • Tarih: August 7-19, 2017 (arriving to the Village on August 6, and departure from the Village on August 19).
  • Amaç: This workshop is primarily meant for graduate students and postdocs with the intention to become introduced to modular representation theory and block theory, to some of its fundamental questions, and to new developments and methods (especially functorial methods) in the field. Participants who are beyond the stage of postdocs are of course welcome as well.
  • Hedef Kitle: Familiarity with general concepts in algebra (groups, rings, modules, categories) and familiarity with ordinary representation theory (representations and characters of finite groups over the field of complex numbers).
  • Genel Bilgi: Fees: The normal daily fee is 110 TL; for those staying in tents the fee is 80 TL. This covers accomodation, four meals a day and all the facilities that the Village offer.
  • Financial Support:
We hope to secure some limited funding for support of graduate students and postdocs. Please contact olcay.coskun@boun.edu.tr or boltje@ucsc.edu for requests.
  • Instructors:
    Laurence J. Barker (Bilkent University)
Robert Boltje (University of California at Santa Cruz)
Serge Bouc (Université de Picardie – Jules Verne)
    Burkhard Külshammer (Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena)
    Jacques Thevenaz (EPFL)
  • Deadlines:
The application deadline for participants is June 15, 2017.
  • Functorial Methods in Representation Theory Summer Camp is supported for the TMD-MAD project.
  • Accommodation: Being younger, high school students will prioritarily be placed in the Village houses/dorms. Undergraduate and graduate students will mostly stay in tents. Experience shows that due to the greater freedom and independence it affords them, older students themselves prefer this arrangement. If you have any doubts about this subject please write to us. Though we can give no guarantees, you can be sure we will do our best to come to an arrangement which is satisfactory to you.
