İçerik: Generating functions are tools in mathematics that are used to describe an infinite sequence of numbers by treating them as the coefficients of a series expansion. They have a wide range of applications including combinatorial problems, probability theory and physics. In this course, beginning with some basic examples, we will have a survey throughout the amazing world of generating functions. The topics to be covered include, but are not restricted to, ordinary generating functions, exponential generating functions, Dirichlet series, the Snake oil method, the sieve method, connections to unimodality/log-concavity, and proving congruences. If time permits, we will also go into a discussion of analytic and asymptotic methods in the theory of generating functions.
