Prerequisites: Basic complex analysis, a little topology/differential geometry including the definition of a manifold would not hurt, although it will be reviewed in the course.

Abstract: This is a basic introduction to the theory of compact Riemann surfaces. After the definitions and some motivation coming from holomorphic functions and elliptic integrals we will try to reach  one or more of the following big classical theorem: Riemann-Roch, Abel-Jacobi, Uniformisation.
