Title of the course: Number Theory à la Ramanujan
Instructor: Assoc. Prof. Kağan Kurşungöz
Institution: Sabancı University
Dates: August 3–8, 2026
Prerequisites: Knowledge of sequences and series at the level of Calculus II is sufficient. Prior coursework in elementary number theory is beneficial but not required.
Level: Undergraduate, Graduate
Abstract: We will follow Bruce Berndt’s Number Theory in the Spirit of Ramanujan. As time permits, we will discuss q-series, theta functions, the partition function and some of the identities it satisfies, sums of squares and triangular numbers, Eisenstein series, hypergeometric series, and the Rogers–Ramanujan continued fraction.
