Prerequisites: High school math courses (most relevant might be linear algebra (lineer cebir), set theory (küme teorisi), geometry (geometri) and logic (mantık)). Pure math university courses will be useful for deeper understanding, but nothing further will be assumed.

Abstract: Category theory is sometimes described as the mathematics of mathematics (although some areas of computer science and mathematical physics also rely on category theory!). Category theory is the study of categories, which are structures arising in many mathematical disciplines, consisting of “objects” and “arrows”. It is a powerful conceptual framework that can be used to connect ideas from algebra, geometry and logic. We will start with simple examples of categories. The later parts of the course will be adapted according to the examples the students are most interested in.
