Title of the course: Introduction to Algebraic Function Fields
İnstructor: Dr. Elif Sacikara
İnstitution: –
Dates: 2-8 September 2024
Prerequisites: Linear Algebra and Algebra
Level: Graduate, advanced undergraduate
Abstract: “This six-day lecture series aims to provide practical insights into algebraic function fields, exploring their interactive studies with algebraic number theory and algebraic geometry. More specifically, students will be introduced to fundamental concepts and will have the opportunity to engage with examples through exercises, with the option to use SageMath.
The topics covered include places, divisors, Riemann-Roch spaces, Riemann-Roch Theorem, and an important class of elliptic function fields. This will enable students to become acquainted with the connections in arithmetic and algebraic geometry, akin to the approaches in courses given by Dino Festi and Matteo Paganin.
The course welcomes anyone interested in this theory and looks forward to meeting participants at the Nesin Math Village this summer!”
