Abstract: We will analyze proofs of basic theorems of calculus, such as Bolzano-Weierstrass theorem, Heine-Borel theorem and a few other, to see what assumptions about infinite sets and the structure of the real line are needed to prove them. All these theorems have the form: under such and such assumptions there is an object (number, set, function) with such and such properties. We will see which of them have proofs that allow us to find an object with the required properties in an effective way.
