Abstract: In this course we will concentrate on parametrized smooth surfaces in real Euclidian 3-space.  We will discuss metric properties of surfaces to understand mathematical description of « shape »  for the surfaces. Notions like Gaussian and mean curvature; asymptotic and geodesic curves will be covered.

Textbook: It will be based on the book of  M.P. do Carmo titled “Differential Geometry of curves and surfaces”. These topics can be found on any elementary differential geometry book.
