Prerequisites: Basic knowledge on sets, operations on them, mappings between sets and their properties.
Level: Advanced high-school students, first year undergraduates in mathematics, physics or engineering.
Abstract: The aim of this course is to familiarise the participants with the most basic counting techniques and their uses in different areas of mathematics, physics and computer science.
Topics such as mathematical induction, pigeonhole principle, permutations, arrangements, combinations, principle of inclusion-exclusion, partitioning of sets will be presented.
