Title of the course: A quick tour of integrable systems: examples and applications
Instructor: Dr. Francisco Correa
Institution: Universidad Austral de Chile
Dates: 7-13 August 2023
Prerequisites: Differential equations
Level: Graduate, advanced undergraduate
Abstract: Integrable systems are an interdisciplinary subject that brings together ideas from mathematics, physics and other fields. They reveal surprising connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena and find practical applications in areas such as gravitation, biology, water waves, optical fibres, and many others. In this course we will explore the main features of integrable systems, using concrete examples to show their beauty and richness. We will cover a wide range of models in mathematics and physics, including nonlinear differential equations, planetary motion and quantum systems.
