Abstract: Topological dynamics studies qualitative properties of groups acting on compact spaces by homeomorphisms. Topics of the course will include: (universal) minimal flows, existence of idempotents, enveloping Ellis semigroups, amenability, Haar measure. Time permitting, we will also cover ergodic measures and unique ergodicity.
